Another really busy day, so I will keep it short and sweet!
After much searching, we found a new fridge and a small freezer. There are so many choices here...far more than in the USA or NZ. So many different brands offering different configurations, which basically makes the choice a pain in the Ass!
We wanted a three drawer freezer...thought we wanted it on the bottom of the fridge, but eventually found that it is less expensive to buy a stand alone 3 drawer freezer (I only want it for my frozen peas and the odd frozen baguette for those times when we cant get fresh), and a stand alone fridge. It has the most shelves and fruit/veg bins. I will keep the freezer in the pantry, and the fridge in the kitchen. Because we eat mostly fresh food, there is little need for a freezer.
We visited Carrefour in Soyaux (this side of Angouleme) for our food shopping this morning, on the way to Leroy Merlin Hardware.
We found new lighting for one bedroom, lighting for the back (pink) room...I havent shown much of that room to date...and new lightbulbs for the existing chandelier.
The lighting in the house is horrid. We like our rooms with plenty of light, so this will be a work in progress.
We will have the fridge and freezer delivered next week, and they will take away the old ones that are dead. Yay! It is costing a little in delivery and take away charges, but not breaking the bank.
No Photos, sorry. Too much going on to stop and take photos. We have found an electromenager store (electrical goods) where they have their own brand, and it comes with a 2 yr guarantee. Lets hope they both last longer than 2 yrs!!
We have some travel arrangements to make...SNCF - France Rail has decided to strike, and of course they are striking when we want to travel by train to Paris. Bah! So, we have contacted our travel insurance folks about this, and I now have to make the phone call. Lets hope this is easy!!
