Herding Cats

It is a real thing...really!! With six cats to get any one place, you have to count carefully, these moving targets. We will get the hang of it! Cant leave them outside at night...this is fairly rural and there are foxes etc out at night.
After a great sleep and breakfast, we did learned the ropes inside the house during the morning, ate a lovely lunch and then went of a tour of the town with our hosts driving. Before that we toured the outside of the home, and enjoyed watching our kitties climb trees, go crazy in the dry leaves and generally entertain us. What a lot of fun they are:)

This is a lovely large home with lovely big windows and plenty of light, therefore.
The outbuilding has a large garden shed on the right, a bar-b-q and dining area under cover for those hot summer days/nights beside the pool.
The cats followed us on the trail around the 1.6 acre garden. The forest at the back is part of the property.
Such a pretty location. The pool will be used from about April onwards, providing the water temps are above 17C.

Fluffy ran helter skelter up this tree.
 The cyclamen are gorgeous!
After the tour of the garden, we all piled into their car and discovered the town...esp. where to find the Vet! and the supermarket, and this lovely man made lake, which we walked around in about half an hour. Good exercise! We will return more than once, no doubt. The town is small, but not so small that we will discover all of it in one day. Plenty to see, walk past and think about in these parts.
The lake has a 'beach', as so many inland lakes and rivers do, all over France.
Everywhere, we see balls of Mistletoe in the trees. Initially we thought they were nests, from afar, but closer inspection reveals these vines, which are almost a pest.

Our hosts provided another lovely meal after an apero, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and views during our time with them here. They will leave the house tomorrow, and we will take over from there.
They are retired Teachers from the UK, and while they miss much about the UK and somewhat grumble about the French Bureaucracy they love their home and this part of the country in particular. They have lived here 14 years.
We are going to enjoy being here, and we feel that they would become good friends, if we were to stay nearby.
Time for bed, and tomorrow we will go supermarket shopping...Intermarche is not far away, and it is an Hyper (ee pair) Marche...they sell almost everything!
Ciao for now...oops...Au Revoir, A Bientot.

  1. I can't imagine how hard it would be to get those cats indoors.

  2. We will see. I'm not 100% sure we will succeed every day, but we will do our best of course:)
